About the President

Xavier Dequévy is a mathematics professor within the National Education Department, lecturer and scientific mediator. He has always been interested in stargazing since he was very young.

His passion for astronomy since childhood, his curiosity to understand and explain the phenomena observed as well as the pedagogy that he experiments with his students every day have allowed him to acquire great experience in many fields of astronomy - both practical and theoretical. He creates educational materials (armillary sphere, sundials, astrolabe, etc.) to support his presentations and writes numerous documents for students and beginners.

He has always been particularly passionate about solar observation and imaging . He is a member of the association of Observers Associated with the Pic du Midi as well as the Pic des Fées Observatory in Hyères. Through these years of experience, he has today become a "specialist" of the Sun and shares his knowledge with the association members, especially regarding the Arctic regions conducive to observing the Northern Lights.
